The first presidential debate, broadcast by TV channel Band on August 9, propelled an increase in the fan base and interactions in the posts of most of the presidential hopefuls.
The results are even more significant when considering the last 31 days, split between before (July 13 until August 8) and after the debate (August 9 to 12). For this analysis, we considered (1) the daily variation in the number of fans and (2) the volumes of interactions per publication before and after the debate.
Guilherme Boulos’ page, which had seen an increase of 19,872 in number of fans between July 13 and August 8, had an increase of 19,613 fans in the four days between August 9 and 12 only. The PSOL candidate also presented the highest rate of daily growth after the debate: an 1.5% increase in number of fans per day.
Cabo Daciolo (Patriota), in turn, saw his rate of daily growth in number of fans jump from 0.03% before the debate to 1.2% after the debate. In the last 31 days, the number of likes in his page increased from 198,902 to 211,077. Out of those, 10,051 likes happened after the debate only and 1,674 happened in the previous 27 days.
